This family forest was purchased by Val Parik in the year 2000. He purchased it from a six-family partnership that he has been a part of since 1964. The parcel consists of 144 acres. A THP harvest took place on this forest in 2003 and in 2016 a NTMP was approved. Also beginning in 2016, the parcel has undergone significant forest management treatment including shaded fuel-break, stand improvement, brush management, and watercourse road crossing rockford enhancement. A NRCS cost share program was utilized.  

In 2021 Val purchased two additional 40-acre parcels located adjacent to existing family forest property lines. All the parcels consist predominantly of Redwood and Douglas Fir as well as brush and hardwood. The concern of fuel load management needs and paying down mortgage encouraged Val to pursue a timber harvest on the newly acquired parcels. Coincidentally in 2022, the West side neighboring 80-acres were purchased by Rodger Burch, Redwood Empire. At this point, the two neighboring landowners agreed to pursue a joint harvest titled Clow Ridge THP, 1-23-00141-MEN, recently approved in February. Timber harvesting began in April.
